Is Gemini DJ Equipment good?
Gemini have been making excellent cheap DJ equipment since the late 1980s. Infact my first ever mixer was a Gemini mixer and it lasted for a long while before starting to “leak”.
I feel Gemini DJ Equipment is lacking in the turntables department. The best Gemini ones are the TT-04 direct drives. They are built very similarly to the Technic 1210 turntables, however that is where the similarities end. The actual feel of the deck just isn’t right. If trying to mix records with this deck a small tweak of the record can send it spinning further round the deck then anticipated. It features an adjustable pitch control that can reach +35%, and pitch bend buttons, a strobe illuminator, anti-skate adjustment, start/stop control, and also a target light.
What are the best types of Gemini DJ Equipment?
Gemini overall probably does its best in the mixer department, especially when it comes to affordable cheap DJ equipment. One such mixer is the Gemini PS-626-X model. This was a remodel of their most popular 1990s mixer with a few 21st century adjustments. It features 3 channels which is interesting as in this day and age you if your going to have more channels then 2, then you should have at least 4 channels. I also found it interesting that for an updated 21st century model there were no RCA inputs. Most DJs are purists and like to hear music in its best form, so a lack of RCA support surely shows a bit of ignorance on the part of Gemini. The now standard additions of adjusting the cross fader curve, and mid, low, high EQ is all there, but as far as taking this model into the 21st century you could argue that maybe they were thinking more 2001 then 2011! However, for affordable cheap Gemini dj equipment this is definitely worth a buy.
Do Gemini DJ Equipment also do CD?
When it comes to cheap CD DJ players then Gemini are very good for this. Their CDX 1250 is a very good choice for DJs who just want to be able to play the tracks without too much mixing. Importantly they are compatible with CDRs so you can burn as many tracks as you want and still use them with ease. They use anti-shock with a buffer memory so to prevent skipping. You can do looping and the pitch bend is done with a jog wheel which can get up to 16%+. I personally am not a fan of jog wheels as I find them too small and fiddly. I also like to be able to spin back my CDs like they were vinyl and this is simply not possible on this model. However, if you use mainly vinyl alongside the odd CD then this is the best thing to use. They are hardly on a par with pioneers CDJ, however this is ideal for a mobile DJ and very cheap also.
So there you have a few early ideas on what to check out when it comes to Gemini DJ Equipment. Remember Gemini cover all equipment with a 3 year defect guarantee so don’t be afraid to ask for a refund or repair if your equipment fails too soon. Gemini are definitly one of the best when it comes to cheap dj equipment.
There really is some great Gemini DJ Equipment to be bought!
